Seminars

Susan Johnson, L.Ac., has been studying and teaching Master Tung's Points for more than 25 years. She is renowned as a dynamic and personable teacher who brings clarity, precision, masterful skill, humor, and warmth to every lecture and demonstration. These seminars are designed for both beginning and advanced students, and the points are appropriate for practitioners at every level. In the beginning stages of learning this point system, students find that it's an invaluable recipe book-it's simple to learn, useful, and effective right away. The complexities and deeper connections of the system become clear as practitioners study these points again and again. Susan continuously expands her understanding about the points, and includes new information and case studies with every series, so these classes are also relevant for practitioners who want to review their techniques. The entire series can be taken many times, and always, new jewels will be gleaned. Each acupuncture point in Master Tung's system is presented in depth, with precise anatomical location, operative theory, indications, combination, and case studies.

Advanced Series

The Advanced Series of Master Tung's Magic Points consists of two 3-day weekends, Friday through Sunday (six days in all).

On each of the two Fridays we study Master Tung's Magic Points by disease rather than location. This class is critical for learning point combinations, and provides differential disease diagnosis using Tung's Points.

Each of the two Saturdays in the Advanced Series offers a rare opportunity to receive supervised training on point location and needling technique. This is attendees' favorite class; it's fun and extremely valuable in ensuring that point location is correct. Students become true practitioners of Tung's system after taking this class.

Each of the two Sundays in the Advanced Series consists of workshops on Advanced Techniques. The first Sunday's topic is The Ancient Art and Science of Cupping. Susan offers detailed instructions on when to use cupping patterns. The class includes precise anatomical descriptions of muscle groups and how they are best cupped, as well as demonstration, diagrams, and some guided practice. The cupping class may be taken separately from the rest of the series, and is open to the public. The second Sunday of the Advanced Techniques weekend is by invitation only.

Beginning Series

The Beginning Series is presented over three 2-day weekends. All three weekends are devoted to detailed descriptions of Master Tung's point locations, functions, and indications. Crystal clear video clips demonstrate the precise point location and needling technique for points discussed in class. The first two weekends additionally cover the energetic systems and basic theory used by Master Tung. The third weekend includes some advanced theory.
