The primary goal of this course is to provide practitioners with an understanding of the energetics employed when using Master Tung’s Magic Points.

Susan Johnson has been practicing Tung’s Points for over 30 years. In her careful observation of their energetic effects, she has mastered the use of these extraordinary points and developed a very clear and precise way of presenting them. The class will begin with an introduction to the system, including a very brief history of Master Tung ChingChang and Tung’s Points in America. She will then cover in detail, the seven theories implemented in choosing the proper acupuncture points within Tung’s system, differentiating between pain management (treating structural problems using mostly opposite-side needling techniques) vs. organ system imbalances (using mostly bilateral needling techniques).

The seven theories for structural problems (ie: muscle, tendon or ligament, bone, nerve or blood vessel), are:

1. Opposite Side/ Opposite End
2. Dao Ma – Point Coupling
3. Active Qi Moving Technique
4. Guiding Points
5. Element Points
6. I-Ching relationships
7. Bleeding Techniques

Next, she will explore the energetic pathways or lines employed in 1. Opposite-Side/Opposite End theory and the importance of keeping these lines absolutely clear to get outstanding and immediate results. Examples of these “energetic lines” will take us to the end of the class. There will not be any time for questions, though clarifications will be welcomed.

Objectives:

1. To give a brief history of Tung’s Points in the USA.
2. To explain the selection of opposite-side points within Tung’s Acupuncture system for structural issues and pain, versus the use of bilateral points to treat organ systems.
3. To provide a brief overview of the seven operative theories involved in the proper use of Tung’s Points: Opposite-side/opposite-end needling technique, Dao Ma or Back Horse technique, Active Qi-moving technique, Five Element Relationships, Guiding Points, I-Ching Relationships and Bleeding techniques.
4. To differentiate between the energetic lines used in Opposite-End/Opposite-Side techniques and the importance of keeping clear energetic pathways in your treatment protocols so as not to give the patient’s body mixed messages.
5. To encourage the further study of this remarkable body of work.
