SUMMARY:Tung’s Points Beginning Series (Weekend 3 of 3)
DESCRIPTION:The Master Tung’s Magic Points Beginning series\, taught by Susan Johnson\, is a three-weekend course designed to immerse practitioners in this profound system of acupuncture. This is Susan’s first time teaching the full three-weekend series in several years. \nThe three weekends comprise a complete beginning course\, and are intended to be taken as a series (although they may be taken individually): \n\nJune 19-20\nAug 21-22\nNov 6-7\n\nStudents are encouraged to participate in all three weekends for the maximum experience\, but attendance all weekends is not required. While the Best of Master Tung’s Magic Points is an excellent introduction to this system\, the number of points covered is limited. \nThe Beginning Series delves into many more points\, beginning with the hands and arms\, and moving on through the feet and legs\, and ending with the torso and head. \nSusan presents points from Master Tung’s system with precise anatomical location\, operative theory\, indications\, point combinations\, and case studies. Crystal clear video clips demonstrate the precise point location and needling technique for points discussed in class. \nStudents will learn unique and practical tools that will allow them to use the points immediately and effectively. \nThis three-weekend seminar is designed for both beginning and advanced students\, and the points are appropriate for practitioners at every level. In the beginning stages of learning this point system\, students find that it’s an invaluable recipe book—it’s simple to learn\, useful\, and effective right away. \nThe complexities and deeper connections of the system become clear as practitioners study these points again and again. Susan continuously expands her own understanding about the points\, and includes new information and case studies each time she teaches. These classes are very relevant for practitioners who want to review their techniques. \nThese seminars are an exceptional opportunity to learn Master Tung’s points\, fondly referred to as “magic” points. Some people dislike the word “magic” in reference to the points\, but you might decide for yourself after trying out Master Tung’s Points. \nHandouts will be provided; no books are required. \nPart 1  Jun 19 & 20th\, 2021\nPart 2 Aug 21 &22nd\, 2021\nPart 3 Nov 6 & 7\, 2021 \nClass Times 10-6:30 Eastern Time\n10-11:30\n    30-minute break\n12-1\n    Lunch 1-2pm\n2-4pm\n    30-minute break\n4:30-6:30pm \nNon-ILSA/KSAA member per seminar:  500.00\nEarly bird price (non-member) per seminar (May 19th cut-off):    425.00\nILSA/KSAA Member price per seminar:     350.00 \nNon ILSA/KSAA member 3 seminar package: 1200.00\nMember 3-pack: 900.00 \n13 CAB CEUs per weekend and NCCAOM PDAs pending approval. \nRegister here. \n100% refund until May 7th.  50% refund from May 8th to Jun 11.  No refund after Jun 11th.

SUMMARY:31st Annual Pacific Symposium: Three-Hour Course
DESCRIPTION:The afternoon session will offer a thorough look at just a few of Tung’s most relevant points or point patterns\, the ones that Susan utilizes all day\, every day in the clinic. As the symposium will be in the fall when preparing for the winter season\, she will discuss the best points and points patterns for colds and flus\, sinus infections\, allergy to winter-pollinating trees\, acute and chronic cough\, pneumonia\, asthma\, COPD and treating weakened immune systems. If time allows\, she will also discuss what are referred to as “the moxa seasons.” \nPoints and point patterns will be taught\, through: \n\nLocation – written descriptions\, photos and drawings\nIndications\nOperative theory and commentary\nSome combinations\nDigital video for location and needling techniques\n\n1) To provide both beginning and advanced practitioners a selection of some of Tung’s most commonly used points. \n2) To describe the importance of using fewer\, very carefully chosen points. \n3) To describe correct needling technique for each point. \n4) To describe advanced concepts about specific points and how to intelligently combine points and point patterns \n5) Following this class\, participants should be able to immediately utilize the points discussed\, in their own clinical setting.

SUMMARY:31st Annual Pacific Symposium: One-Hour Course
DESCRIPTION:The primary goal of this course is to provide practitioners with an understanding of the energetics employed when using Master Tung’s Magic Points. \nSusan Johnson has been practicing Tung’s Points for over 30 years. In her careful observation of their energetic effects\, she has mastered the use of these extraordinary points and developed a very clear and precise way of presenting them. The class will begin with an introduction to the system\, including a very brief history of Master Tung ChingChang and Tung’s Points in America. She will then cover in detail\, the seven theories implemented in choosing the proper acupuncture points within Tung’s system\, differentiating between pain management (treating structural problems using mostly opposite-side needling techniques) vs. organ system imbalances (using mostly bilateral needling techniques). \nThe seven theories for structural problems (ie: muscle\, tendon or ligament\, bone\, nerve or blood vessel)\, are: \n\nOpposite Side/ Opposite End\nDao Ma – Point Coupling\nActive Qi Moving Technique\nGuiding Points\nElement Points\nI-Ching relationships\nBleeding Techniques\n\nNext\, she will explore the energetic pathways or lines employed in 1. Opposite-Side/Opposite End theory and the importance of keeping these lines absolutely clear to get outstanding and immediate results. Examples of these “energetic lines” will take us to the end of the class. There will not be any time for questions\, though clarifications will be welcomed. \nObjectives: \n\nTo give a brief history of Tung’s Points in the USA.\nTo explain the selection of opposite-side points within Tung’s Acupuncture system for structural issues and pain\, versus the use of bilateral points to treat organ systems.\nTo provide a brief overview of the seven operative theories involved in the proper use of Tung’s Points: Opposite-side/opposite-end needling technique\, Dao Ma or Back Horse technique\, Active Qi-moving technique\, Five Element Relationships\, Guiding Points\, I-Ching Relationships and Bleeding techniques.\nTo differentiate between the energetic lines used in Opposite-End/Opposite-Side techniques and the importance of keeping clear energetic pathways in your treatment protocols so as not to give the patient’s body mixed messages.\nTo encourage the further study of this remarkable body of work.

SUMMARY:Tung’s Points Practicum & Supervision\, Dana Point\, CA
DESCRIPTION:Note: The dates for this event are Friday\, February 22nd and\nSaturday\, February 23rd \nThe two most common reasons acupuncture treatments are ineffective are\ninappropriate diagnosis and inaccurate point location. The late Dr. Miriam Lee would\nsay\, “you must find the right key to open each lock.” She was right about that\, and\nMaster Tung’s Magic Points offer the acupuncture practitioner just those options. No\nmatter what you are treating\, once you have studied Tung acupuncture you will\nrecognize many differing points or patterns to choose from when contemplating each\npatient’s situation. However\, if your point location is inaccurate your treatment still may\nnot work. \nIn this workshop you will practice finding the exact point location\, first through the\nbody’s landmarks and then through concise palpation. The best points\, faultlessly\nneedled\, should have a tangible effect within moments of their application. This is what\nyou will learn to expect from correctly needling Tung’s points. Susan and her seasoned\nteaching assistants will help you recognize what might be incorrect about your needling\nof Master Tung’s Points and give you the feedback you need to perfect your point\nlocation and needling techniques. You will learn how to perfectly execute the most \ncommonly used points in this extraordinary system of acupuncture. Whether you have\nbeen practicing for decades or perhaps only months\, you will benefit from hands-on\npractice\, careful guidance and personal attention. Only upon completion of Susan’s\nsupervised practicum will she consider you to be a true Tung practitioner. \nYou will practice on each other\, in rotation\, to experience different body shapes and\nsizes. Needle-phobics and pregnant practitioners are welcomed and will work together\nwith others of like sensitivities. Very fine needles in small diameters will be provided for\ncomfortable needling.\nUpon completion of this seminar you will be able to: \nIdentify points and point patterns on differing shapes\, lengths and sizes of bodies. \nExplain the difference that needle diameter can make. \nDemonstrate the most effective positioning of the patient and also of themselves in\norder to best needle different points and patterns. \nPractice how to palpate the body to ‘feel’ for the acupuncture points. \nPractice how to accurately find the most commonly used points in Tung’s Acupuncture\nSystem. \nPractice the accurate needling of twenty-five to thirty different point patterns of Master\nTung’s Magic Points. \nTimes: Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m./ Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. \nLunch: Will be provided\, please eat a good breakfast before arrival \nCEU’s: 13 hours pending CAB approval \nHOTELS\nClick the image below for hotel information. For a 10% discount at the Dana Point Marina Inn\, mention the Dana Point Yacht Club event. \n \n\nCancellation Policy: 80% refund through January 31. (We are not able to offer refunds after this date.)

SUMMARY:In-Depth Master Tung’s Magic Points - Denver\, Colorado
DESCRIPTION:The In-Depth Master Tung’s Points & Theory series\, taught by Susan Johnson\, is a two-weekend course designed to immerse practitioners in this profound system of acupuncture. Students are encouraged to participate in both weekends for the maximum experience\, but attendance in both weekends is not required. While the Best of Master Tung’s Magic Points is an excellent introduction to this system\, the number of points covered is limited. In-Depth Master Tung’s Points delves into many more points\, beginning with the hands and arms on the first weekend\, and moving on through the feet and legs\, ending with the torso and head on the second weekend. In this more focused version of her Beginning Series\, Susan presents points from Master Tung’s system with precise anatomical location\, operative theory\, indications\, point combinations\, and case studies. Crystal clear video clips demonstrate the precise point location and needling technique for points discussed in class. Students will learn unique and practical tools that will allow them to use the points immediately and effectively. \nThis two-weekend seminar is designed for both beginning and advanced students\, and the points are appropriate for practitioners at every level. In the beginning stages of learning this point system\, students find that it’s an invaluable recipe book—it’s simple to learn\, useful\, and effective right away. The complexities and deeper connections of the system become clear as practitioners study these points again and again. \nThe seminars may be taken as a two-weekend series\, or individually. The entire series can be taken many times\, and always\, new jewels will be gleaned. \nIn the first weekend\, Susan introduces this point system\, and teaches the history\, beginning theory\, and energetics of the points. Students learn many important points of the hands and arms\, and begin points of the feet and legs. \nIn the second weekend\, students will continue to learn points of the feet and legs\, and begin to learn points of the face\, head\, and torso. The material concentrate on point study; rather than general theory. Sunday afternoon\, Susan will present an important piece of Advanced theory.\nHandouts will be provided; no books are required. \nPDA credits: 13 units per weekend (26 total) \nVisit sponsor website to register.

SUMMARY:In-Depth Master Tung’s Magic Points - Part 2 - San Diego\, California
DESCRIPTION:Part Two of the In-Depth Series\, focuses on building treatments around the primary and constitutionally based points found in Tung’s Acupuncture. Saturday’s class begins with the study of points on the calves\, and will proceed to thigh points. These leg points use two to six needles per pattern\, to which other points (for example: finger\, toe or head points) may be added to complete or fine tune for an excellent acupuncture treatment. Leg points treat organ systems and though some points may be needled unilaterally to treat pain or structural problems (muscle\, tendon\, bone\, nerve or blood vessel)\, they are most frequently used bilaterally\, for many conditions\, including hepatitis\, heart disease\, asthma\, nephritis\, and allergies. As we move through the leg points\, studying their use in relation to whole body organ issues\, points from the first weekend (Part One) will be mentioned as possible additions. For those who have not studied Master Tung’s Magic Points but are interested in attending In-Depth Part Two\, I recommend my introductory youtube at\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myxkI0HqxFU\, which provides a basic theoretical\nbackground necessary for properly applying the points. It is necessary to study the points\ncovered in Part One in order to fully understand the basic theory\, though this may be done\nbefore or after taking Part Two. Part Two includes foundational material at the very core of\nTung’s unique acupuncture system. \nSunday’s class includes some of the points found on the face and head\, as well as points that\nare commonly bled on the dorsal trunk. On Sunday afternoon\, Susan will present a crucial piece\nof advanced theory in order to sharpen student’s understanding of the way in which Tung’s\nAcupuncture works\, and elucidate Master Tung’s Magic Points extraordinary effectiveness.\nIn this two-day seminar Susan presents points from Master Tung’s system with precise\nanatomical location\, operative theory\, indications\, point combinations\, and case studies. Video\nclips show exact point location and needling technique for points discussed in class. Students\nwill learn unique and practical tools that will allow them to use the points immediately and\neffectively. \nCEU/PDA credits: 13 units\, CAB & NCCAOM approved. \nHandouts will be provided; no books are required. \nCancellation policy: 80% refund\, up to two weeks prior to the class\, none thereafter.

SUMMARY:The Ancient Art of Bleeding – San Diego\, California
DESCRIPTION:The Ancient Art of Bleeding is a cross-cultural modality used from time immemorial\, in ancient Egypt\, India\, the Middle East and throughout all of Asia. In Chinese medicine\, bleeding is commonly referred to as: pricking bleeding\, micro-puncture\, triangular needling or simply\, blood-letting. This course is designed to explore: the origins of blood-letting; different styles and forms of bleeding; sterile technique and safety concerns; and to provide instruction on a wide variety of points that are bled for common ailments. \nThis class begins with an introduction to bleeding techniques\, followed by a narrated slideshow from Susan’s 1987 trip to HeFei Research Hospital\, in China\, with Dr. Miriam Lee\, where they studied bleeding techniques with a third generation bleeding expert\, Dr. Wang Xiu-Zhen. Susan discusses: sterile technique; different sizes and types of bleeding needles\, including disposable hypodermic needle tips and lancets; points that are commonly bled; bamboo cupping; and some interesting case studies. \nLecture will continue with the theory behind the use of bleeding\, including seven distinct functions of bleeding; further safety concerns\, including sterilization and the proper disposal of blood products; knowing the laws regarding bleeding; superficial bleeding\, like: seven-star hammering; common conditions that are bled; a slideshow of bleeding being done in New Delhi; a slideshow of bamboo cupping being performed in Viet Nam; and a series of six movie clips from Susan’s previous bleeding classes\, used to demonstrate different bleeding techniques. \nIn the afternoon\, Susan will demonstrate as many different bleeding techniques as time allows\, including: superficial and deep bleeding\, seven star hammering of the toxin areas\, bleeding the knees for herpes\, bamboo cupping of the spine\, DT07 Three Gold bleeding and bleeding the sacrum. Students from the class will volunteer for these demonstrations. Attention will be given to setting up for a bleeding technique\, performing the technique and attending to aftercare and cleaning the treatment area. \n6.5 PDA credits. \nCancellation policy: 80% refund\, up to two weeks prior to the class\, none thereafter.
